Children in Worship

At Eastminster, it is our great hope that all of our children will join us in worship with their families. Learning the stories of faith, parts of worship, celebrating the sacraments, learning the hymns of the faith and passing the peace with our church family are important times in the lives of our children. We believe children learn them best from participating in and worshiping alongside their church family. In order to support our children and their families, we provide worship bags and boxes for our children to help them participate. We also provide tables with activity boxes for families to worship together.

All children are also invited to share in a Time with Children during the worship service. The stories and prayers that are shared during this time will teach the stories of faith to our children in words that they can understand. Our children also serve as acolytes, communion assistants, and liturgists on a regular basis.

Children Ministry this Fall

Children’s Storytime
Tuesday at 6:30PM

Each Tuesday night at 6:30, all children are invited to join Joan for Zoom Storytime. We share a variety of children’s books and spend time checking in with our church friends. All are invited for this special time!

Building Stories

Starting Sep. 18th on Sundays at 11Am following Worship

This is for children 5th grade and younger. We will use Legos as we BUILD the stories of the New and Old Testament. We will begin with the Parables of Jesus. We will meet each Sunday morning immediately following worship and are excited to have the EPC youth as builders along with us.

Children and Families Worshipping Together
Date: TBD

Worshipping with our children can be an exciting time and it can also be a time full of questions wondering why we do the things we do!

During our Worshipping Together gatherings, our children 5th grade and younger will have the opportunity to participate in the beginning of the worship service with their families and then the children will go with Joan and other leaders to explore why and how we worship. We will meet for 6 Sunday mornings and then our children, in Kindergarten and older, will remain in the service and worship alongside their Eastminster family. Before we begin the children’s gatherings, we will have a time to meet with parents to talk about worship and what we will be learning together. Dates to be announced.

Children’s Sunday School

Beginning Sunday, September 18, our preschool/elementary children will gather following worship for a time of Building Stories, Brick by Brick. We will begin with the Parables and share in lego building as we learn these stories of our faith. Our youth will serve as group leaders and we will meet in the classroom located on the first floor near the nursery. All are invited!

Children and Families Worshipping Together

This fall, we will provide a learning opportunity for our children and their families as we explore why and how we worship and how we, as children of God, can participate more fully. We will offer a gathering for parents to explore ways to worship together with our children as they become more active participants in worship. The children will be led in learning centers, create items that will assist in their worship, learn what it means to be an acolyte, learn about the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper and much more. More details coming soon.

Church Nursery/Childcare

We are in the search process for our new Nursery caregiver. Our nursery is open to children in Kindergarten and younger and will be staffed by a paid caregiver and church volunteers. Children are loved and cared for in a welcoming space. All children older than kindergarten will remain in worship with their families and our Eastminster family of faith.

Special Events

Throughout the year, we provide special learning, fellowship and mission opportunities for our children and their families.
