YOUTH FAITH FORMATION

Youth Formation Elder: Melinda Finney

Youth Ministry Mission
The goal of the Youth Ministry Team is to nurture the youth of EPC by providing a diverse program that includes education, service, and fun activities. The schedule is a weekly rotation with one to two Sunday evenings of classroom lessons, one Sunday of service, and one Sunday with a fun group activity.  Some months will have more than one service opportunity.
Sunday school is scheduled for most Sundays excluding holidays and other specials times.

Sunday School 9:15 a.m.

Senior High Sunday School (9th – 12th Grades): Beginning in the fall of 2011, this class will use the
Feasting on the Word curriculum.

Youth are figuring out who they are as they search for whose they are. Feasting on the Word materials provide opportunities for this age group to ex-plore their personal and communal identity in Jesus Christ through meaningful community-building experiences, engaging Bible study, and relevant learning activities. Biblical stories will come alive in new and creative ways. In response to God's amazing, unconditional love, youth will be challenged to put their faith into action as they grow to understand themselves as Christ's disci-ples. Each session includes a media connection sec-tion that ties the week's Scripture passage to a film, video, song, or Web site.

Mid-High Sunday School (6th – 8th Grades): Beginning in the fall of 2011, this class will use the Akaloo curriculum.

Akaloo:
What does Akaloo mean?
The word Akaloo is inspired by the Greek verb “to follow” (akolouthein).
Are you ready to Akaloo?
Discipleship is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor, so Akaloo brings a "stage-specific" approach to faith formation.
The Mid High class curriculum will focus on service, at EPC, within the community, and at home…learning discipleship…following Jesus’ example.

Sunday Evenings as scheduled:  This is a time for the combined Youth Group (6th - 12th Grades) to come together for more than a classroom experience.  This time allows the youth to form relationships within a Christian community while building a mature faith.
