Steve has been a resident of Greenville since 1998, serving as associate pastor at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and following retirement in 2004 as interim associate pastor at Easley Presbyterian and most recently at Fourth Presbyterian.

Steven Putnam, Director of Christian Education

Steven has served as a Director of Christian Education for 8 years.  Previously he served as DCE at Young Memorial Presbyterian in Anderson, SC before coming to Eastminster in 2010.  He is also serving on Foothills Presbytery's Christian Education Committee. 

He holds a B.A. with a concentration in Developmental Psychology and has received training in Systems Theory applied to Congregations through The Center for the Study of Human Systems along with course work in church communication through Erskine Theological Seminary.  Additionally, Steven received training in Historical Archaeology fieldwork and conservation through The University of Virginia - a passion he pursues in his spare time.

Steven is married to Layne Putnam, an Assistant Principal with Anderson School District #5 and they have two children, Taylor and Chase, along with a rambunctious Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Luke Browder, Choir Director

Luke moved to Greenville in 2005 to attend Furman University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree.  He has sung with many church choirs in the upstate, including several years at First United Methodist Church of Laurens.  In addition to directing music at Eastminster, he will be pursuing his Master of Music degree at Converse College.  Luke also sings with many opera and musical theatre groups in the upstate as well as the Greenville Chorale and Chamber Ensemble.

Kelly Herd, Accompanist

Kelly Herd graduated from Furman University with a BM in piano performance. Kelly teaches elementary and middle school music and conducts several choirs at Prince of Peace Catholic School. She also serves on staff at Furman University, teaching piano and theory in the Piano for Young People program and accompanying Furman students. In addition to all her teaching responsibilities, Kelly accompanies for different schools, churches, choirs, and colleges in the Greenville are. She is a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Music Teachers National Association, and the Greenville Woman’s Music Club.
