Children's Ministry Children's Calendar

 

 

Education

This team oversees children and youth Sunday School, the nursery, preschool worship activity, children's worship activity, Vacation Bible School, Presbyterian Youth Connection, adult Sunday School, small groups - Bible studies, prayer groups, etc., Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Men, mid-week educational opportunities, and the library. We grow in knowledge of the Bible, the Reformed Tradition and the meaning of our oneness in Christ.

 Adult Education

ACTS 2:42 – And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
The adult education team oversees Sunday morning classes, Second Sunday Suppers programming, Presbyterian Women’s Circle, Men’s and Women’s Bible studies, Eastminster Readers and other education-related opportunities and retreats as they arise. The team seeks to help us deepen our connection to God and each other through offering a variety of educational opportunities to learn and grow in faith that are engaging and spiritually challenging and that are tailored to the diverse needs of life stages.

Congregational Care

This teams provides cards, meals, develops the Prayer Chain, Rose Delivery, the Stephen Ministry, and the Parish Nursing.

Missions

The missions team makes recommendations to the session for the disbursement of benevolence funds, looks for and evaluates mission opportunities, leads mission education, manages/supports current mission programs/projects including

The team sponsors/supports missionaries, publicizes denominational offerings. They reach out in a special way to those who hunger and thirst for human dignity, the poor, suffering and oppressed people in our community and in the world.

Evangelism and Assimilation

This team has a two pronged approach. Evangelism entails visitor follow-up, new resident mailings, brochures, visitors' packet, newspaper coverage, EPC wear, car decals, "Invite a Friend" Sunday, "____Appreciation Sunday", and evangelism training.

The Assimilation includes Inquirers' classes, new member follow-up (e.g. sponsors), ministry opportunities coordination - ensuring that those who express an interest or volunteer receive a response from the appropriate ministry/team, spiritual gifts inventories, spiritual gifts education - discovering spiritual gifts and aligning with ministry opportunities. We welcome with joy all those who come to us and invite them into the life of our community. We bear witness to those who do not know Christ by living our faith and spreading the good news.

Stewardship

We acknowledge that each one of us is called into faithful ministry, gifted and empowered by God's spirit for the glory of God and the common good.  The Stewardship team is responsible for year round stewardship education to foster a spirit of commitment within the congregation to Stewardship – sharing of our time, talents, and treasures.  They plan and coordinate the annual stewardship campaign for pledges and coordinate with the Financial Team as needed.  They also develop programs to encourage participation and involvement within the life of our community of faith. 

Financial

This team budgets - plans, implements, and monitors, oversees long term planning, oversees the church treasurer, and writes grants. They are responsible for insurance, and offering counting.

Personnel

This team conducts annual evaluations of each staff member, communicates with staff about financial matters, and facilitates healthy staff relations.

Building and Grounds

This team oversees the landscape planning and maintenance, building maintenance (e.g. custodian, energy management (e.g. T-Stat Programming), worship setup and breakdown, special setup breakdown for educational programs, social events, etc. They are responsible for building usage policies and procedures. They continually integrate technology as appropriate.

Fellowship

This team works with community building, it supports other teams’ activities (i.e. provide meals, refreshments, etc.), helps with congregational social events, small group social events (e.g. supper socials, etc.), athletic programs, recreational events and programs, bulletin boards, newsletter publication, retreats, conferences.

Worship

This team is responsible for the worship space, regular worship services, and special worship services. They also work with the ushers and greeters, Baptism – preparation, sponsors, Communion – preparation, elders. They organize and train lay leaders of worship, and oversee decorations. They evaluate and plan alternative worship activities within the traditional service and/or alternative worship services. They help with the adult vocal choir, handbell choir, and children and youth choirs. We celebrate our faith by worshipping together, experiencing Christ in Word and Sacrament and one another, in simple and natural surroundings.
